I like surprises, like turning the corner by the cauliflowers and seeing this magenta head of Graffiti cauliflower! We can start harvesting them in the next week or two. I will be keeping an eye on the low temperatures at night to ensure they are harvested before getting damaged from freezing.
Another ready fall crop is the purple cabbages! We have a sizable quantity planted and available for all your purple cabbage needs.
This week we harvested the fingerling potatoes and the sweet potatoes. We already brought a box of fingerlings to the kitchen and will continue to do so until we deplete the supply.
The sweet potatoes need two weeks to cure. So you won’t see them until November except in photos! Did you notice that we have a red/purple vegetable theme here?
We can start a light harvest of the kales and Dragons Tongue mustards. September and October have been perfect growing months for these crops, with cool nights and plenty of sunshine during the day. I guess we are getting compensation for our cold, wet spring.
Beets are ready for harvesting. We have both red and yellow beets, round and cylindrical shapes.
So far, all the herbs are holding up well except for chives. Unfortunately, they have died for the year.
Micro-greens are growing well because of the perfect temperatures. As you’ve noticed from the walk-in, we have a lot.
Come out to the Garden to see what else is growing.
