State of the Garden

Chef's Garden Event Tent

The event tent set-up was finalized this week. The lights are in, as are some of the tables and chairs. It will all be ready for the first event this coming Wednesday.

Herbs

We are harvesting some of the spring’s abundance of herbs to dehydrate them. We will continue to do so as long as we have plenty for fresh purposes. Currently, we are harvesting rosemary, thyme, tarragon, chervil, and oregano.

Greenhouse Plants Waiting To Be Planted

Chef's Garden Greenhouse Plants Waiting To Be Planted

We had the garden tilled on Monday, but it needs a second round as the cover crops take time to break down.  We are ready to be
planting and consequently have a bunch of plants waiting outside the greenhouse in anticipation of such an event.

Strawberries

Chef's Garden Green Strawberry

We uncovered the strawberries to remove weeds and found a green one. Of course, I took a photo of the best-looking one. Unfortunately, I do not think we will have enough for next week’s brunch.

Fava Beans

Chef's Garden Fava Bean

We found another surprise while weeding! Don’t hyperventilate; I only saw two this size, so you have some breathing room before we provide an avalanche of fava beans. We should have a harvestable amount by the end of the month.

Pea Shoots

We harvested the last of the pea shoots from the remaining cover crop. If you want pea shoots, we must harvest from the edible peas. Speaking of edible peas (as opposed to field peas), more and more blooms are showing this week. We are getting excited about the upcoming harvest.

Come on out to the garden to see what else we have growing.
