The California poppies, with their vibrant colors, are a stunning announcement that spring has sprung. We let them self-seed, ensuring a breathtaking display each spring. These cool-season flowers gracefully fade away as the weather turns hot.
Perseverance through Rain & Mud

Despite the typical cool, wet Willamette Valley spring weather, our dedicated gardeners persevere through rain and mud. This past week, we finally released all those plants that had patiently waited in our planting queue for the soil to dry for tilling.
Parsley
Parsley is finally in the ground. It will soon recover from transplanting and produce a ton of new growth.
Celeriac
Celeriac is in the ground. We will harvest it next fall/winter.
sprouting broccoli/raab
We are experimenting with a spring sprouting broccoli/raab. However, I suspect the first hot spell we get will spell the end of that experiment. At any rate, we were able to plant it this week.
Tomatoes & Peppers

The tomatoes are in the ground. We will install the stakes and the first trellis twine this coming week. They are keeping company with the peppers, which we will plant this coming week.
Baby Turnips, Radishes & Carrots
We harvested plenty of baby turnips, radishes, and carrots for Friday’s dinner in the Garden.
We will let the rest grow larger for harvest in a few weeks.
Snap Peas
We harvested the first snap pea variety. I expect the harvest will pick up with the coming sunshine.
Strawberry Season

Strawberry season is upon us, and we can’t wait to share the sweet, juicy fruits with you! The coming warm days will speed up the ripening process, and we’re hopeful for a bountiful harvest this coming week.
We have a lot growing, with more coming each week. So come to the Garden to see what else we have growing!
