Tomatoes are here with an explosion of colors. This is my second load on Sunday. As you can see, I commandeered the golf cart, which saved me 3 trips back and forth with the wheelbarrow.
Peppers have also come into their own. We will harvest more peppers next week so crank up the pickle-making department.
I peeked through the shade cloth today, and I think we’ll have some baby romaine lettuce this coming week.
Guess what? We have turnips. They’ve been covered with an insect barrier, so we haven’t looked at them. The insect barrier ripped, and what did I see? Turnips! We will harvest them before they become giants.
This week the beans finally took off. All those tiny beans are now harvest-sized. We have a lot so plan accordingly.
As if I haven’t mentioned enough abundance, the squash and cucumbers continue to produce like they’re expecting winter right around the corner.
The ears of corn are more noticeable. My goal is to keep raccoons away from them. I don’t want to share.
Melons are looking good, but whether or not we get to harvest any depends on the weather over the next few weeks. Some years are outstanding melon years, and some years are not. That’s all part of eating local; we’re at the mercy of the weather.
All the herbs are doing well. We attempt to stay on top of the harvesting.
In anticipation of rain returning, the shed has a new non-leaking roof.
Come on out to the Garden to see what else is growing.
