PURPLE SPROUTING BROCCOLI | The final variety of The Allison’s overwintered purple sprouting broccoli is ready! The gardeners are regularly harvesting. It’s the nicest-looking broccoli of the year!
LARGE WINTER SQUASH | A few large winter squash are left to use.
PEAS | The peas are slowly, but unquestionably, making their way into this rainy, cold garden. Anna Ashby, the master gardener, says,
“Since I haven’t been able to convince the slugs to stick to eating weeds or grass, we are keeping the slug bait renewed since we don’t want to lose the baby plants.”
RAINBOW CHARD | The rainbow chard in the garden is looking good. It is hiding under an opaque row cover.
PARSLEY | The gardeners harvest parsley at least once per week.
MINT | The gardeners will start harvesting mint soon.
LEEKS | The leeks are putting on size. For the best quality, they should be used within the next month.
MINERS’ LETTUCE | The miners’ lettuce has rebounded.
The gardeners are filling the tables in the greenhouse. The tomato and pepper seedlings are growing rapidly at this point in the spring.
Anna says,
“Once it stops raining, we can discontinue building our ark and return to garden work in earnest!”
Come out to the garden to see what else is growing.
