Chefs Garden Zucchini and Patty Pan Squashes

This is one day’s worth of zucchini and patty pan squash. Consider this fair warning that the amount will only increase for several weeks. It might be prudent to lock your car doors as that is a favorite “hiding” place for extra zucchini, usually the boat-size zucchini.

Winter Squashes

The winter squashes, acorn, butternut, and delicata all look good. We will harvest them in September/October.

Beans

Just when you are reeling from the zucchini onslaught, here come the yellow, green, and purple beans! We should have a small harvest next week. Then the floodgates will open, and we will have lots of beans.

Parsley

The parsley is not long for this world.
We have more planted, but it will take two or three weeks for them to put out enough growth to harvest.

Basil

On the other hand, basil is looking good. We can harvest as much as you need.

Pickles

Pickle season is here! Cucumbers are coming on strong. Hopefully, we planted a more reasonable amount this year than last year. At any rate, from the looks of the plants, you will have plenty for pickling.

Peppers

Peppers are starting to appear mysteriously in your walk-in. So far, we have restricted our harvesting to Shishito and Padron peppers. Let us know when you are ready for Gypsy Peppers.

Melons

The melon harvest is something to look forward to in late August. As you can tell from the photo, they are developing nicely. We will harvest them slightly before they are dead-ripe so they last longer. We will give you plenty of warning before they come in.

Honey

We will harvest the honey for the year this next week. It’s sure to be a sticky week.

Come on out to the Garden to see what else we have growing.
