When I moved to Oregon in 1995, there were only 92 wineries in the Willamette Valley. Fast forward 25 years, and the valley is now home to more than 725 wineries that cover 37,000 acres of land with world-renowned vineyards that produce Oregon’s finest wines. It has been a tremendous thing to witness the continued growth and popularity of Oregon’s Wine Country and to have played a role in the expansion of the tourism industry to this area for the past 10 years.
Past: When The Allison Inn was merely a dream, our founder, Joan Austin, envisioned it as a “small country inn” – the kind that people would come and stay at when passing through town and the foothills of this once-simple land with untapped potential. The wine industry in Oregon was beginning to emerge and the founding winemakers of the area were making their mark.
Present: We are experiencing exciting times in the valley as we embark on a new decade. Travel and tourism to Oregon continues to increase, as does the popularity of winemaking in Oregon. From the kings of pinot to the rise of rosé, we look forward to welcoming travelers from near and far to experience all that the inn and the surrounding area has to offer.
Future: If I had a crystal ball to see 10, 15, or even 20 years into the future, I would expect to see Oregon Wine Country standing sentry as a leader in luxury destination food and wine travel. And our “small country inn”? I see us continuing to be the home away from home for those looking to have exceptionally curated experiences that can only happen here in the heart of the Willamette Valley.
Sincerely
Pierre Zreik, Managing Director
