state of the garden

Chefs Garden

The garden is looking like summer. We harvested the elephant garlic in the foreground of the photo. Let us know any time you would like to start using it.

The parsley did not like the heat. It simply decided that growing was done and that it was time to put out flowers. Consequently, we have planted more seeds. We will let you know when we can no longer harvest from the current planting.

Chef's Garden Plum Season

Chefs Garden Plums

The plum season has arrived after two years of no plums. On the dry days in March, the bees were busy pollinating. We have harvested the first to ripen, but we will wait to hear from the kitchen before harvesting more.

Strawberry production slows when it gets hot. We only harvested once last week. It will pick up again as the weather moderates.

Chef's Garden Summer Squash

Chefs Garden Summer Squashes

We harvested the very first of the summer squashes! The squash will trickle in to start, but it won’t be long before we have plenty.

The basil is large enough for harvesting. We will add it to our regular harvest schedule if you request it.

The tomatoes are getting closer to ripening.

The beans have flower buds! Next week should bring flowers, followed by actual beans! We will keep you posted as to their arrival time.

Chef's Garden Shishito Peppers

Chefs Garden Shishito Peppers

We found the first of the shishito and patron peppers. They hide in the foliage, and then suddenly, they appear in harvestable sizes and amounts.

Chef's Garden Gypsy Peppers

Chef's Garden Gypsy Peppers

Gypsy peppers are looking good. In another week or two, we can start harvesting.

We have more growing, so come on out to see the rest of the story.
