We have sorrel leaves until we have a solid freeze. In the meantime, the red-veined sorrel is a striking addition to the garden.

The weather has been kind to the garden this autumn, which allows for fantastic growth. I found this giant leaf on the shaded side of the celeriac bed. That orange nasturtium flower peeping from behind the leaf is the standard size. It is only the leaf that is super-sized. We have nasturtium flowers and leaves until we have a killing freeze.
We harvested the first of the arugula last week. We will keep succession plantings going all winter.
Are you ready for horseradish? Now is a good time for us to dig the roots.

The next cauliflower in line to mature is this Romanesco. Its remarkable design is called a fractal, a mathematical term for a geometric pattern. Not only that, the number of spirals is a Fibonacci number. Math lovers have long been intrigued by this cauliflower.
After the Romanesco, another purple variety is waiting in the wings. We still have more white variety to harvest as it reaches size. All that to say, we have a good supply of cauliflower yet to be harvested.

A bumblebee is visiting a late-November blooming lavender. She was glad to find some food on a day warm enough for flying around.
Visit the garden in our slower season; it’s still beautiful.
