State Of The Garden

Purple And White Kohlrabi

We have an excellent kohlrabi crop this season; we are harvesting them as they reach a good size. We are trying not to have basketball-sized kohlrabi.

Celeraic

Giant Celeriac From Chefs Garden

As you are well aware, we also have an excellent celeriac crop. (We have a lot.) They are large, so one goes a long way. We are harvesting them as needed.

Cauliflowers

Colorful Autumn Cauliflowers

As mentioned last week, the earlier cauliflowers are being harvested. Since freezing temperatures are predicted for this weekend, we’ve opted to harvest all the exposed heads. The heads that are well-wrapped with leaves are left to their own devices.

This week, we spent most of our days removing summer crops and seeding a cover crop to protect the bare soil from winter rains and to provide biomass to chop into the soil next spring.

We harvested the final bed of carrots and beets.

We are finished with peppers, tomatoes, basil, and beans.

Kale

Chef's Garden Red Russian Kale

The kale has grown well. We can harvest anytime you want some. We planted several different varieties this year, so there are many options.

Dragon's Tongue Mustard

Dragon's Tongue Mustard Greens

Not only do we have kale available, but we also have Dragon’s Tongue Mustard, which can be harvested. Let us know when it’s needed.

If you need small chard leaves, we can harvest them. This fall weather has been kind to the fall and winter crops. Everything is growing well.

The New Garden Shed!

Garden Shed

We have been working on the new garden shed, getting it ready for winter by painting any exposed wood, painting inside, caulking, and installing some solar lights. We should be moving items inside this week.

Come to the garden to see what else we have going on!
