Dawn Bodnantense Viburnum

Botanical Name: Viburnum x bodnantense ‘Dawn’

Grow this deciduous shrub in a sunny location. Grows 8 – 10 feet tall if unpruned. Blooms on growth from the previous year. Prune right after flowering; otherwise, the buds for the blooms for the following year are removed. The attractive, fragrant, pink blooms appear in late winter. Leaves emerge bronze, changing to dark green as they mature.

Type: ‘Dawn’ is the “type” of the hybrid, a cross between two Asiatic species, Viburnum farreri and Viburnum grandiflorum.

Bodnantense: refers to Bodnant Gardens, North Wales, where the hybrid was raised in 1935.
