Music in the Garden Featuring Norman “Boogie Cat” Sylvester

For the grand finale of our 2026 concert series, we are proud to welcome Norman “Boogie Cat” Sylvester and his daughter, Lenanne Sylvester-Miller.

Norman’s musical journey started in the ’60s, but it took a life-changing pivot in the ’80s when he was invited onstage to perform at a concert with blues legend Buddy Guy. The experience inspired him to leave a successful career in the trucking industry and pursue music full-time. After taking the leap of faith in the ’90s, he formed the Norman Sylvester Band and became a staple of the Portland blues scene. Since then, he has performed more than 4,000 shows throughout the Northwest.

Lenanne Sylvester-Miller has enjoyed a successful career as a professional vocalist and actor, and has performed alongside her father full-time for the past seven years. Together, they deliver an energetic blend of blues, soul and timeless favorites that has delighted audiences across the region.
