Weeds are plants growing where we do not want them. Since we spend increasing amounts of time dealing with weeds, it’s beneficial to look at their beauty while removing the unwanted plants. Baby Blue Eyes popped up in the middle of Clover in this photo.
lettuce
The lettuce in the greenhouse is growing quickly. We have a good supply on hand in addition to the up-and-coming plants waiting to go into the ground.
mustard, arugula & radishes
We also have mustard, arugula, and radishes in the greenhouse in various stages of growth. We harvest them when they are ready.
Tomato & Pepper Starts
The tomato and pepper starts have recovered from their transplant shock and settled into the serious business of growing. As anxious as we are to get planting outside, remember that we had to scrap frost from our windshields this week.
cauliflower
We will be harvesting some of the cauliflower this week. Because of the random warmer days, it doesn’t hold in the field as long this time of year as it does in the fall. That pesky sun spurs plants to flower!
chive blossoms
If you want to use chive blossoms for anything, let us know to harvest some. We usually only harvest the non-flowering leaves.
Green Garlic
Green garlic will be ready soon. If we wait longer, we will have garlic scapes; if we wait even longer, we will have garlic cloves.
Sunchokes
We could still harvest sunchokes. However, they have started regrowing, so the tubers might not be as nice.
Lovage
Lovage is ready for harvesting!
Edible Flowers
We have a wealth of edible flowers with warmer spring temperatures, which we aim to keep harvested.
Come to the garden to see what is growing and get your daily dose of sunshine!
