State Of The Garden

Chefs Garden Basil

This tiny-leaved basil (pictured top) is a show-stopper. Most people have never seen this variety of basil before. The seed the gardeners purchase is “finissimo verde.” They are finally large enough that we currently have a plant in the kitchen for on-the-spot snipping. We will keep you supplied with a fresh plant for the rest of the summer and early fall.

Basils

Besides the “cute” basil (see above), we have Genovese Basil, Thai Basil, and Lemon Basil. The gardeners will plant the Holy Basil this coming week, as life has had a rough start.

Beans

Chefs Garden Purple String Beans

The gardeners are harvesting beans of all colors and shapes by the tub full. Their production is still increasing. The gardeners might have planted too many beans this year! They are trying to harvest two times per week but might need to increase that to 3 times per week for a bit.

Cucumbers

The cucumbers are growing quickly. They grow to an un-usable size seemingly overnight, so the gardeners harvest about every other day.

Gypsy Peppers

Chefs Garden Gypsy Peppers

The gardeners harvested the first Gypsy Peppers this week. As usual, there is a heavy crop. Every variety is heavily loaded. The Allison is prepared for a bountiful pepper harvest this year.

Tomatoes

The next crop to watch is the tomato crop. The tomatoes have just started ripening, and much more is to come.

Micro-green

The gardeners have upped their micro-green planting. They were scrambling to keep the JORY supplied, but it will only be a matter of time before the pendulum swings the other way, and there are too many!

Honey

Honey harvest commences this coming week.

Chefs Garden Purple Flower

The garden has so much going on right now, so come out and see what else is growing.
